April 9th was a big day here in our family. It was Anna's last soccer game of the season, and while she had really enjoyed playing the game, she had not yet scored a goal. She got so close so many times, but seemed to always get a little timid at the last minute and then miss her opportunity. (Larry was her coach by the way...and a great one at that! He did a great job of teaching the kids the positions and getting them to actually stay in their positions rather than chase the ball like a swarm of bees.) Anyhow, during her last game Anna ended up scoring her FIRST goal, the ONLY goal of the game, and thus also the WINNING goal! It was sooo exciting. The crowd (well namely me and all of Anna's Mama's and Papa's) went wild. Poor Larry, I know he wanted to celebrate immediately with us, but he had to maintain some professionalism as coach, so it wasn't until after the game that he got to pick up his little girl and twirl her all around like they had both been dreaming of. Of course, there was a stop at Dairy Queen afterwards to celebrate. Here is a picture of our soccer player in "uniform". Can you see her pink shin guards peeking out? Girl got style!
